Poppy spectacularTonight I'm joining a group of the ladies within my community, to make tons of poppies in light of our Church's commemorative events over the remembrance weekend. Filling the Church lawn with poppies - crocheted, knitted and felt - this craft-ilicious burst of colour is bound to catch the eye of our neighbourhood and spark curiosity and remembrance.
Lest we forget. |
Business cards galoreOK. I am back on the crochet waggon, and quite frankly can not get enough!
I blame Pinterest. So much inspiration and so little time. With all the new mummy groups I'm attending and the various comments I get when out and about with my mini crochet model daughter, I've decided to start carrying more business cards around with me. If you don't have one, stare at this screen, take a mental photograph and file it away in your mental purse :) |
November sweetheartWe have a baby!
She came five and a half weeks early but is doing really well. So I am going to have a break from crocheting for a little while, because as you know crocheting takes two hands and this little poppet is definitely going to be taking up at least one of mine for the foreseeable future... ...but watch this space because I doubt that my hooks and I will be apart for long. |
Two weeks to go...
...until my next Craft Fair, and this one is particularly dear to me.
Where: Hillside Hall BA23NX
When: 3rd November
For more info visit The Bath Chronicle's website or UKCraftfairs.com.
This fair is special to me because it is put on by my community craft club that I absolutely love being a part of throughout the year. Plus, I have just moved house to just around the corner, making me more of a local member than ever before, and Articulate thrives from its wonderful community feel as like-minded crafters come together from the same neighbourhood.
But it is also important to me because this time last year I did the Articulate craft fair, and it was the first time I had ever attempted to sell my own hand-made goods, and it was so exciting that from that day forth The Flower Mill was born!
Big news at The Flower MillYou may have spotted that The Flower Mill has been a little quieter than usual these past three months - less social media updates, less craft fairs and demonstrations.
That's because I've been growing something of a very different ilk... Meet our little crochet model of the future!! Me and my hubby are expecting our first baby - due this December. We are very VERY excited. It's been an icky first trimester but as the morning sickness fades, I've got the wool back out, and I definitely have my eye on a couple more fairs to squash in before the little one comes along. |
Spring is in the (h) air
I have been really busy today creating lots of pretty little hair-slides to sell at Oldfield Park Infant School's first ever Easter Craft Fair. The fair is taking place on the 13th April from 10am until 12 noon. To go to the school's website for directions to the school click here. |
Baby Bunny Mobile now completeI have just completed a very exciting commissioned piece for a little boy who has not yet been born.
This project took me a good few months but I am really thrilled with the end result. To see more pictures and read about the project click here. |
Bristol, here I come
I am now one of Hobbycraft's volunteer Artisans.
When I'm there I'm given a couple of tables to spread the crochet-love to any intrigued shoppers.
I spend three or four hours crocheting, demonstrating, and teaching from a table in the heart of the craft super store. I also take my birdcage full of brooches so that customers can buy a Flower Mill special - crochet pretties for under £5.
Hope to see you there soon. I'll be the smiley one with the wool and the hooks.
Dates coming up 6th Apr 2013, 4th May 2013
Time 11am - 3pm
Place Hobbycraft - click here for further directions

I was recently commissioned to crochet an owl key ring as a birthday gift for an owl-fanatic.
One cold day in January I set about to fulfil the order and found a lovely owl pattern on repeatcrafterme. I adapted the pattern a little, attached him to a key ring and called him Oscar. Such a cutie.
Oscar has gone to the birthday girl now - flown the nest, so to speak - but has inspired me to design and crochet more exclusive little critters for The Flower Mill's next craft fair. Watch this space...

Get 'Cosy' in The Bath Bakery
Have a 'cosy' Christmas.
In our house we sure love a good cup of tea or a cosy cup of coffee. That is why I am so happy to be crocheting cup cosies this week. I am so so excited about this...
On Saturday 22nd December there will be a handful of my unique and lovingly hand-made cup cosies for sale at Oldfield Park's The Bath Bakery & Café. Find them on Twitter and Facebook.
The cosies are all handmade by me; I selected the mugs, designed the pattern, crocheted the cosy and sewed on the details. In true Flower Mill fashion, all components are locally sourced where possible. They are not yet for sale online, but I am happy to make you one if you get in touch.
£7.50 - pretty cup included.

We do have another exciting project in the pipeline featuring one very cute baby and many crochet pretties, so be sure to check this page again soon.
